Support Us

Would you like to help our local community? Then please consider supporting us in one of the following ways!

Why donate to WSF?

Many people in West Silvertown tell us that our activities and services make a real difference to their lives.

  • Regular giving really helps give our charity financial security. It’s quick and easy to set up a direct debit and claim Giftaid at the same time.
  • One-off gifts are also very welcome and much appreciated.

A donation of just:

  • £10 could cover one day’s expenses for a young person on work experience at our youth club summer scheme.
  • £20 could pay for breakfast for around 35 people at our Breakfast Club.
  • £30 could allow us to run one dance class for the community in our hall.

Thank you for your donation. No gift is too small and it will help us to build a stronger community!

Why volunteer for WSF?

We rely on volunteers to help us run the wide range of activities and services that we do. But we know that volunteering is about more than giving your time for free. It’s about helping your community while gaining new skills, making new friends – and hopefully having lots of fun too.

We’re currently looking for more volunteers in these areas:

Under 5s programme - Do you enjoy working with young children? We have a group every weekday morning, and need help with setting up, packing down and interacting with children and families. Email chloe@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Community breakfast - Are you a friendly and welcoming person? We need help setting up and creating a welcoming environment at our community breakfasts, on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Email naomi@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Gardening for adults - The community garden near Britannia Village Hall on Evelyn Road needs volunteers to help create and maintain the garden. Email naomi@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Youth club - could you support our youth club for ages 8-19 on a Monday or Thursday evening? Or our preteen club for 8-13s on a Wednesday? To find out more, speak to nathan@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Creche volunteer - We offer a creche during our English classes so that people with young children can come along and learn. If you like working with under 5s, and would like to support our creche worker through playing games, doing activities and reading stories, then get in touch! Email emily@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

English language project - Are you a native or near-native English speaker? Do you have an hour a week to help a local community member who is learning English, to practice through conversation? We are also looking for volunteers who are interested in coming along and assisting with classes and/or local trips with English students. Email emily@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Life admin - We run support sessions for all local people in West Silvertown where they can get support with form filling, phone calls and every day admin. We are looking for volunteers who are able to commit to 1-2 hours/week (either on a Thursday 12-2pm or Saturday 10am-11:30am). Email emily@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Baby feeding café - An opportunity for a midwife or trained peer support person to run sessions on feeding infants (breast or bottle) for local parents. Email chloe@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Community Events - Are you available to help us run one-off community events? If yes, this could be the opportunity for you, whether it's running an activity, working behind the scenes and planning, we'd love to hear from you! Email naomi@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

parkrun - Our friends at Victoria Dock parkrun are looking for volunteers to help with various roles, including marshalling, barcode scanning and timekeeping. Email helen@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Games for 5-8s - help set up and pack down as well as playing games with kids and supervising. Email chloe@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Particular skills - Do you have a particular skill or interest you'd like to share with us and your community? This could be something like running a session on public speaking, or providing advice to the charity. Email hello@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

Trustees - WSF is overseen by an experienced board of trustees who come from a wide range of backgrounds. Please email helen@wsfroyaldocks.org for more information.

If you’d like to volunteer with us, but these opportunities don't sound like the right fit for you, email hello@wsfroyaldocks.org to see if we can match your skills with our needs.

Could your business or organisation partner with us?

Are you a company or other local organisation interested in making a donation? Or could we develop a bespoke sponsorship to support your company values and people development goals?

We welcome people who could give time to our youth club – whether by giving inspirational talks to young people, career and interview workshops, or advice on how to manage money.

And we’re always delighted to host teams looking for a useful way to spend a volunteering or teambuilding day.

At WSF, we love bright ideas! If this sounds like you, please get in touch with us manager@wsfroyaldocks.org to discuss potential ways of working together.
