Understanding the Impact
At the West Silvertown Foundation, the release of our Impact Report isn’t just a annual publication; but a moment to acknowledge our community’s commitment to making West Silvertown somewhere for everyone. As we look at the numbers and narratives within it becomes clear that behind every statistic lies a story of resilience, compassion, and empowerment.
Key Highlights
Our community pantry
Our new food pantry distributed over £8,200 worth of essential products to local households at affordable prices. In a time of economic strain, this initiative has alleviated food insecurity, ensuring families have access to nutritious meals.
Empowering the Next Generation:
Mentoring plays a pivotal role in shaping the future. In 2023, we provided guidance to 42 secondary school students, equipping them with the tools to navigate life beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, we fostered aspirations and empowered our youth to think about their future with confidence.
Community Engagement:
In 2023 we delivered 1,902 hours of activities and services, with 94 volunteers who contributed 1,649 hours of their time. From stay and play sessions to self-defence, our facilities were alive with activity, catering to the many interests of our participants, ranging in age from 0 to 79.
Supporting Families:
For many families, our programmes go beyond providing children’s activities; they allow parents to develop friendships and reduce isolation. From giving free school uniforms to hosting Bring & Swap events, we’ve delivered a mixture of activities which improve lives and deepen ties within our community.
Welcoming New Arrivals:
The Welcome Project provides newcomers with English classes, social events, and practical assistance. Through Bring and Swaps and trips around London, we cultivate a sense of belonging in our diverse community.
We’re looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings. Thank you for being a part of this amazing adventure.
